True Life

This is our life, currently.

We leave for vacation on Monday.

The water heater started leaking last night and we discovered it this evening. The plumber comes tomorrow.

Our cat has two nights left before her one way trip to the vet. She is very sick and old, and her quality of life is very poor.

We live on one income, by our choice, but some weeks and months really stretch us. This is one of those times. Prioritizing needs can be hard (and they are all truly needs…not frivolous wants).

The sleep disorder has resolved itself like this: sleeping from 11pm to 7 am. A two or three hour nap in the afternoon. If only I could immediately drop off to sleep, myself, at 11:05. But it usually takes me two hours to wind down from the evening issues. So I am sleeping 4-6 hours in a row, if I am lucky.

But…

We have an amazing little boy.

We get to go camping all next week, just the three of us.

We can get new carpet without worrying about the cat ruining it.

Cherries are in season.

The ice cream stand down the street is open.

We celebrate ten years of marriage on May 31.
