I am participating in a 31 Day Challenge called “31 Days to Clean.” Last week I downloaded a book of the same name, and I signed up with the blog “Joyful Mothering” to participate. We’re actually taking a little longer than 31 days, because weekends are optional!
So each day’s challenge is composed of a little devotional-type reading, some biblical applications, a Mary challenge and a Martha challenge. This week started with cleaning in the kitchen as the Martha challenges.
And I am beating myself up. I got our refrigerator and freezer cleaned out, and that is an awesome feeling. It is so nice to have an incredibly clean fridge!! I also got my cabinets and such cleaned (on the outside). But I didn’t get my oven cleaned or wash our curtain and blinds.
See, we’re putting in new floors. We also got new gutters this week (so there was lots of pounding on our house the day I had a massive migraine). Once the floors are in and we have an inspection, the house is going on the market. So we’re also simplifying for showing purposes, which involves lots of packing things away and deciding to keep, give or toss.
Anyway… today was ripping up old carpet and such and there is dust everywhere. So I’ve decided that next week I’m going to wash all our curtains and blinds. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get to the oven (migraine gutter day).
The Martha challenges are also not coming along as well as I’d hoped. I know why I want a clean house, and I’m formulating my priorities and mission statement in my head. But I will get those written down!
Overall, I’m enjoying the book and I’m looking forward to the rest of the book!
It looks like we are on the same page! I also completed all of the challenges for the week, except washing my curtains and cleaning my oven. I'm not sure when I want to tackle my oven! It feels good to have completed some of the challenges because they are things I would normally overlook when I do my regualr cleaning. I am also looking forward to the rest of this challenge! Good luck!

I have a lot of window sills. . .but my fridge and micro look great! Good luck as you continue the challenge–I used the worksheet to draft my mission statement and it helped me to narrow my scope: )

I saw this on another blog but didn't look at the details. Sounds like a great idea.
Don't beat yourself up you've only just begun. Great timing with putting the house on the market to do this challenge.
