Random Stuff

Little Man weighed in on Wednesday at 13 lbs 15 oz. He weighed in because we had to go to the doctor again b/c of this cold.

Turns out the cold is really a sinus infection. Babies don’t have full sinuses like adults, but they do have sinuses at the very tops & sides of their noses. Little Man’s are infected. (This could have been the problem all along, but it escalated when thunderstorms rolled through, the pressure changed and he. went. ballistic.)

So now he’s on amoxicillian. Which has lovely side effects (think diaper change every 1/2 hour!). But, his coughing has already slowed down a bit and his nose is constantly expelling lovely green snot!!

The doc recommended a great homemade diaper rash remedy:

Maalox & corn starch mixed into a paste. Apply every other diaper change. At the changes where you don’t apply the paste, apply neosporin. Now, LM has never had a diaper rash, and he doesn’t have one. Yet. But with all that is going on, I imagine sometime this weekend we’ll be testing out this remedy.

Amazingly, we’re still getting lots of grins. There is a fair amount of clinging and crying, but the good still far outweighs the bad!

Yesterday, LM began to reach up for and grab our faces (lips, my glasses, hubby’s unshaven whiskers, eyeballs, noses). It was fascinating to see him so fascinated with our faces.

Tummy time no longer exists. If I lay him on his tummy, he immediately rolls over.

If I lay him on his back, he immediately rolls over to one side. He’s flipped his leg over, but hasn’t quite grasped how to swing the arm over and roll completely over.

He’s been kicking things. I taught him to kick the cup in the bathtub. Then, last night, I leaned over to make a face at him and he kicked me square in the cheekbone. Ouch!!

Everything he can grab goes into his mouth. His favorite is a spit rag or blanket – he grabs it, bunches it up & shoves it in between his gums!

That’s about it for updates.

OH! SLEEP!

He’s sleeping MUCH better now…from about 9 – 3 and 3:30 – 7:30 or 8. It’s wonderful. Tonight I’m going to make Keith get up with him so I can get a full night’s sleep.

He’s still only awake about 1 1/2 out of every 3 hours. He takes a great 2 hour nap in the morning and afternoon and two shorter naps in the late morning and early evening.

So I thank God for that daily 🙂

I love me some sleep!

Okay, for real, that’s it!

  1. That is awsome! 🙂 I know I don't comment much, but I wanted to give you a tip. 🙂 If you apply some aquafor on him when he has the yucky diapers, it will stop him for getting a rash. It's really great stuff. I used it on Wyatt when he had rotovirus. Those diapers were beyond bad.

  2. I didn't even knew babies got sinus infections! Poor Little Man! But glad to hear that he is slowly improving!

I will have to remember that diaper rash remedy!
